SLEX-100 REX-100 explosion proof sightglass light for hazardous locations

The SLEX/REX-100 series are compact, explosion-proof sight lights that deliver bright, glare-free illumination into vessels, tanks, hoppers, silos, mixers, and pipelines through a single sight port. UL-844 and C-UL/CSA C22.2 No. 137 listed for hazardous (classified) locations, these fixtures mount completely externally to the sightglass flange — entirely outside vessel pressure. Available in halogen and High-Intensity LED (HI-LED) versions, with a sanitary clamp model for food, beverage, and pharmaceutical applications.

The fixture can also serve as an illumination port paired with a separate viewing sightglass — for example, for TV or video camera monitoring applications.

Standard Model

Construction & Design Features

  • Borosilicate glass lens with precision-machined seal
  • Supplied with slotted mounting brackets for easy installation on new or existing sightglasses (3-1/4", 4", or larger circular flanges)
  • ½" FNPT conduit entries (3 places)
  • Fixtures mount completely externally to the sightglass flange — outside vessel pressure

Halogen

The SLEX-100 and REX-100 halogen series use a high-intensity halogen lamp to provide bright, glare-free illumination through a single sight port. The REX-100 adds a highly polished internal reflector for increased illumination intensity over the standard SLEX-100. Both series are UL-844 and C-UL/CSA C22.2 No. 137 listed for Class I, Division 1 hazardous locations. Available in 50 W and 100 W versions at 120, 230, or 240 VAC. The halogen lamp is also available as a retrofit into existing SLEX-100 housings, and the fixture can be relamped without removing it from the sight port or disturbing any wiring.

The SLEX-HI-LED and REX-HI-LED series use High-Intensity LED (HI-LED) light engine technology to deliver bright, glare-free illumination through a single sight port — without the heat, short lamp life, or high energy draw of halogen. At only 8 watts actual draw (100W equivalent output), these fixtures provide 22% more light intensity than a 100W halogen bulb while consuming 93% less energy. UL-844 and C-UL/CSA C22.2 No. 137 listed. Available in 120 V and 240 V; the REX-HI-LED adds a polished internal reflector for increased intensity.

Combination Explosion-Proof HI-LED Light & Integral Sanitary Clamp Sightglass Assembly

The SLEX/SVTC and REX/SVTC series integrate a Series SVTC sanitary clamp-type sightglass directly into the SLEX/REX explosion-proof lighting fixture — the lens is an integral part of the unit, not a loose component. This allows users to illuminate the contents of a pressurized vessel or pipeline with HI-LED or 100W halogen intensity on existing standard sanitary clamp ferrules. Anodized aluminum parts provide greater cleanliness and aesthetic appeal, making the unit highly popular for pharmaceutical applications. All wetted parts are machined T316 stainless steel (optional materials available), PTFE, and glass.
