Jacoby Tarbox UniGlas safety sight window — borosilicate glass fused to metal

UniGlas® Safety Sight Windows — Exclusive to Jacoby Tarbox

Borosilicate glass fused directly to metal — a single unit with exceptional resistance to impact, pressure, scratching, and pitting. No separate gaskets or seals to fail. Available in dual and single-window styles for pressures to 530°F. Patented design.

Exclusive to Jacoby Tarbox

UniGlas is a proprietary Jacoby Tarbox technology. The fused glass-to-metal construction is not available from other sight window manufacturers. UniGlas is standard on all Jacoby Tarbox TruSan 6000 Sight Flow Indicators and is available as an upgrade on other models.

UniGlas Features & Technology

Fused Glass-to-Metal Construction

UniGlas windows are single units of borosilicate glass fused directly to metal — no bonding agents, adhesives, or cements. The glass and metal become one integral unit, eliminating the failure modes associated with bonded assemblies.

No Shims, Packings, or Adjusting Screws

The fused construction eliminates the need for shims, packings, or adjusting screws during installation. This simplifies installation and removes potential leak paths.

Exceptional Impact & Pressure Resistance

UniGlas windows are specifically designed for rugged conditions. The fused metal ring reinforces the glass against impact and pressure, providing exceptional resistance to mechanical abuse.

Scratch & Pitting Resistance

The borosilicate glass surface resists scratching and pitting from abrasive process fluids, maintaining visibility over the service life of the window.

Fail-Safe Performance

Even when intentionally cracked in performance testing, UniGlas showed only slight weepage with no window blowout or failure. The metal ring retains the glass even if cracked, providing the safest possible performance.

High-Temperature Capability

UniGlas handles most high-pressure system temperatures to 530°F — higher than standard borosilicate glass windows (450°F). Suitable for steam and high-temperature process service.

3-A Sanitary Compliance

UniGlas sealing surfaces comply with 3-A Fittings Standards, making them suitable for food, beverage, dairy, and pharmaceutical applications requiring sanitary construction.

Single and Dual Window Styles

Available in both single-window and dual-window configurations. The dual-window style allows through-lighting for improved visibility in dark or opaque process fluids.
