PEECO Flow Switches
Customize your PEECO switch for any application
PEECO Flow Actuated Electrical Switches are not standard shelf items — they are specifically designed to accommodate your application. The following options allow customization for virtually any flow sensing requirement. Contact Northeast Controls Inc. to discuss which options are appropriate for your application.
PEECO flow switches can be supplied with an air operated actuator in place of the standard micro-switch. The air operated option provides a pneumatic output signal proportional to flow conditions, suitable for use with pneumatic control systems. Available on both Explosion Proof and Non-Explosion Proof models.
The Dash Pot option provides time delay on the make or break of the switch contact. This prevents nuisance tripping due to momentary flow fluctuations, pulsations, or turbulence. The dash pot is a hydraulic time delay device that can be adjusted in the field.
The Direct Reading option provides a visual indication of flow directly at the switch. A mechanical indicator shows whether flow is present or absent, allowing operators to verify flow conditions without electrical instrumentation. Available on Non-Explosion Proof models.
For applications where process temperatures exceed 300°F, PEECO offers a finned body extension that dissipates heat before it reaches the micro-switch. This allows PEECO switches to operate in process temperatures up to 2000°F. The extension length is calculated based on process temperature and ambient conditions.
The Low Flow option allows PEECO switches to detect very low flow rates that would not actuate a standard paddle. Special low-flow paddles and sensitivity adjustments allow detection of flows as low as a fraction of a foot per second. Also available as a Low-Low Flow option for extremely sensitive applications.
Multiple Action switches provide two or more switch contacts actuated by a single flow sensing element. This allows a single PEECO switch to simultaneously control multiple circuits — for example, activating an alarm at one flow rate and shutting down a pump at a different flow rate.
In applications with high turbulence, cavitation, or pulsating flow, a standard solid paddle may chatter or give erratic readings. The Perforated Paddle option reduces the effect of turbulence by allowing flow to pass through the paddle, providing stable actuation even in difficult flow conditions.
PEECO flow switches are available with Tri-Clamp (Tri-Clover) sanitary connections for use in food, beverage, pharmaceutical, and biotech applications. All wetted parts are polished to sanitary standards. Available in both Explosion Proof and Non-Explosion Proof configurations.
The Stem Dampener provides mechanical damping of the paddle stem to prevent chatter and erratic switching in turbulent or pulsating flow conditions. Unlike the Dash Pot (which provides time delay), the Stem Dampener provides continuous mechanical damping proportional to the rate of stem movement.
For corrosive or high-purity applications, PEECO switches are available with Teflon® (PTFE) coated or all-Teflon wetted parts. The Teflon option provides excellent chemical resistance to virtually all process fluids. Available in partial Teflon (paddle and stem only) or all-Teflon configurations.
The Time Delay option provides an electronic time delay on the output of the PEECO switch. Unlike the mechanical Dash Pot, the electronic Time Delay option provides precise, repeatable time delays that can be set to specific values. Available as delay-on-make, delay-on-break, or both.
PEECO Pig Detectors are specialized flow switches designed to detect the passage of pipeline pigs (cleaning and inspection tools) through a pipeline. The detector senses the mechanical displacement caused by the pig passing the sensing element, providing a reliable signal for pig tracking and pipeline management systems.
