Jacoby-Tarbox — High Pressure Sight Flow Indicators

ASME Class Threaded — High Pressure

Class 300 / 600 / 900 / 1500 · 720 – 3600 PSI · 1/2" – 2" · Flapper, Plain, Rotor, Drip & Gas Indicator Types

The Jacoby-Tarbox HPA series provides ASME Class-rated threaded connections for high-pressure and high-integrity process applications. Unlike the standard NPT 3000# series (which uses a nominal PSI suffix), HPA models are dimensioned and rated to ASME B16.5 Class designations — Class 300, 600, 900, and 1500 — making them directly compatible with ASME-classed piping systems without adapters or reducers.

Available in five indicator types — plain, flapper, rotor, drip, and gas indicator — with a full range of body materials, window options, and seal materials. All units carry a stainless steel engraved ID tag and are hydrotested at 1.5 times MWP. Class 900 and 1500 units include Jacoby-Tarbox's patented window holder as standard.

HPA Series — ASME Class vs. NPT 3000# Ratings

The HPA series uses ASME B16.5 Class designations (CL3, CL6, CL9, CL15) rather than nominal PSI suffixes. Class 300 = 720 PSI, Class 600 = 1440 PSI, Class 900 = 2160 PSI, Class 1500 = 3600 PSI at 100°F (carbon steel). Pressure ratings derate with temperature per ASME B16.5 tables. Specify HPA models when the piping system is designed to ASME Class rather than nominal pressure ratings.

Available Models by Indicator Type

All models available in Class 300, 600, 900, and 1500. Pressure ratings shown are for carbon steel at 100°F per ASME B16.5.

Plain (No-Flow Indicator)S-100HPA-CL3 / CL6 / CL9 / CL15(NF)

Bi-directional; any mounting orientation. Used for visual presence/absence of media, color, clarity, or turbidity inspection. No internal indicator element.

3600 PSI @ 100°F

FlapperS-100HPA-CL3 / CL6 / CL9 / CL15

Uni-directional; horizontal or vertical upward flow. A 316SS hinged weighted flapper indicates flow velocity by its angular position. Optimal for liquid and steam service.

RotorS-300HPA-CL3 / CL6 / CL9 / CL15

Bi-directional; any orientation. A TFE rotor spins in proportion to flow velocity, providing relative rate indication. Ideal for opaque liquids or heavy gases at long viewing distances.

DripS-200HPA-CL3 / CL6 / CL9 / CL15

Uni-directional; vertical downward or horizontal. A 316SS drip tube forces condensate or low-flow liquid to collect on the lower lip and drip visibly downward. Suited for condensate and partially filled lines.

Patented Window Holder — Standard on Class 900 & 1500 Units

Class 900 and 1500 units include Jacoby-Tarbox's patented single window holder as a standard feature. The window holder protects the borosilicate glass during the torquing sequence, preventing cracking or fracture from uneven bolt loading. This exclusive design feature is not available from other manufacturers and is a key reason Jacoby-Tarbox high-pressure units are specified for critical service. Cross-bolted retainers are used on all pressure class ratings.
