Magnesonics MSP100 |
| SMART 2-Wire Level Transmitter - See
Model Configuration Page |
| |
| OPERATION |
Ultrasonic
pulses are transmitted
from the transmitter face and arc reflected from the surface
of the product and received back by the same transmitter. A measurement
of the time delay between the transmitted and received signals
enables the microprocessor controlled electronics to calculate
the level. From this the microprocessor can deduce contents in
any volume units required or the flow of liquid through a flume
or over a value.
This transmitter provides all the benefits of remote communications
for interrogation, configuration and monitoring of field instruments.
Changing the operation parameters in order to accommodate different
or changing site conditions is easily achieved using the Hand
Held Communicator, or the Magnesonics l1-View configuration software.
Either method connects directly to the MSP 100 or at any point
on the 2-wire loop, making data access and parameter changes
simple and convenient. During configuration the 4-20mA output
from the MSP100 is not affected in any way, ensuring a continuous
and uninterrupted output. |

| DESCRIPTION |
The 'SMART' MSP100 is the latest
addition to the industry proven and widely accepted MSP family.
Designed for a wide range of applications including liquid level
contents measurement and open channel flow measurement, when
the requirement is a processed 4-20mA output proportional to
the measured value.
The 'SMART' MSP100
Transmitter provides all the benefits of remote measurement
and digital signal processing in one self-contained unit.
'This combination of level measurement and microprocessor
control takes the lead in ultrasonic measurement technology,
making the MSP100 the ideal choice for tank contents
measurement and inventory control, particularly on multi-tank
sites.

| MSP100 PRODUCT RANGE |
| The MSP100 Sonapulse transmitter is available in
three versions, PVC as standard. PTFE for wetside protection,
and PVC for long range applications. For improved accuracy, the
M SP 100 incorporates a temperature sensor for automatic compensation
of speed of sound changes, due to temperature variations in the
ullage. |
| |
| MSP100 - S12 |
| PVC faced transmitter for (general purpose industrial
applications. Supplied with either flanged or universal bracket
mounting. |
| |
| MSP100 -S22 |
| PTFE faced transmitter for applications with corrosive
liquids. A solid PTFE flange provides full protection against corrosive
liquids or vapors in these applications. |
| |
| MSP100 - S42 |
| PVC faced transmitter for use on longer range applications,
or where liquids have poor reflective properties. |
| |
| H-VIEW SOFTWARE |
Simply connect the HART modem
to your PC, load the program from the diskettes supplied and
Magnesonics H-View is operational. On start up, the HART network
is automatically scanned and all connected instruments are identified.
Once this process is complete, the configuration data is stored
locally on the PC hard disk and a network topology map is created,
showing the instruments together with their Tag identifiers.
Any instrument can now be selected and the dynamic Process
Variable shown. When used with KDG Magnesonics manufactured instrument,
all of the instrument variables and parameters can be displayed
and configured, while other HART instruments will show only Universal
data such as Process Variable, Tag etc. |

| MSP100 SONAPULSE HAND HELD COMMUNICATOR: |
The MSP 1011 Hand Held Communicator (HHC) extends
the capability and versatility of the MSP100 ' SMART' transmitter,
allowing an extensive range of functions to be performed including
programming, interrogation and readout display. The HHC is
menu driven, making programming easy with step-by-step prompts
to guide the user through the process. Fully portable, the pocket-size
HHC is simply connected across the loop at any convenient access
point.
For additional convenience the program can be configured in
the HCC off-line while not connected to the 4-20rnA loop, then
later downloaded into the MSP100 Sonapulse, either directly
or from any point on the loop when on-site. Only one HHC is
required for any number of MSP100 Sonapulse transmitters. |
| |
| FEATURES |
| Readout display Display |
Display of processed measurement
reading, providing display in units to suit the application.
Percentage full scale. liquid level. ullage space and loop mA
current can also be displayed.
|
| |
| Current output (span) |
| Ability to set or change the span of the 4-20mA current
output, as required by the application. |
| |
| Profiling |
| Programming the shape of the tank or flow profile
into the A4SP 100 Sonapulse gives an output proportional to contents
or flow rate. |
| |
| Diagnostics |
| The MSP100 performance can be easily assessed by
interrogation of certain parameters, providing values of, for example,
echo strength and success rate. |
| |
| Engineering adjustments |
| Diagnostic readings or changing site conditions may
necessitate the changing of certain engineering parameters to achieve
the optimum performance for the particular application. These parameters
include blanking distance, smoothing time and lost echo delay/action. |
| |
| OPTIONS |
| For applications where all the site conditions are
known and do not vary, the MSP100 can be factory programmed.
This option requires a simple questionnaire to be completed, detailing
the specific program requirements. Consult the sales office for
further details (address on back page). Intrinsically safe model
HHC available for Zone `O' use. This programmer is approved EX
is for all hazardous areas and safe area use. |
